As we all know, Vail is a prime location for winter sports and events, but it is also home to several wonderful art galleries and more.  Take a day trip or even spend a weekend to experience some of the attractions that Vail may not be known for.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is the highest elevation botanical garden in the world.  Coming in at around 8,200 feet, it features alpine gardening at its finest.  They are always having some sort of event, whether it is guided garden tours or outdoor aerial yoga, they are more than just a botanical garden.  They are open year round and are located next to a playground if you happen to bring the little ones. Betty Ford Alpine Gardens also has a gift shop that is open during the summer months.

If you are missing the winter fun and need a pick-me-up, the Colorado Snowsports Museum might be the answer.  They are having their grand opening house on June 23rd and they are excited to show you the $2.4 million transformation.  The museum offers different exhibits, education programs, and loans surrounding businesses artifacts to help spread the knowledge and history of the sport.  The Colorado Snowsports Museum has something for the whole family, so make a day of it and learn all about your favorite past time.

Open for 29 years, the Claggett/Rey Gallery showcases sculptures and paintings by American artists.  This refined gallery features well over 30 painters and sculptors.  From European to Westerns, the Claggett/Rey Gallery has many categories to offer.  Whether you are an avid collector or just in need of a great piece, this gallery will help you find your new quality item.  They are a full-service gallery and will walk you through the entire process.  The gallery also serves exquisite wines straight from Napa Valley.

Just down the street from the Claggett/Rey Gallery, is another upscale gallery that has been open since 2005.  Vail International Gallery presents classical landscapes to creative sculptures.  They host exhibitions frequently and strive to embody both contemporary and historic illustrations.  With an ever-changing retail, you are sure to find that one item that speaks to you.

Between the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, the notable museum, and the many galleries, you could potentially spend a lot of time in Vail when the slopes shut down.  Enjoy a weekend away or stop into one of these beautiful locations for a diverse Vail experience.
