5 Ways to Create a Productive Workspace

As real estate agents, we work from all over. Every year we try to increase or productivity and these are some elements of a good office we have found!
1. Location
Location, location, location. You hear the phrase all the time in real estate. This isn’t only important when choosing where to live, it is also important in choosing where to set up shop! If you work from home, it is best to have a specific area dedicated to work, even if it is a walk-in closet turned office. A specific area will allow you to focus better and ignore what needs to be done in your house.
2. Storage
Once you have chosen your location look around at your storage options. If they are limited, consider putting in floating shelves above your desk to free up space. A laptop over a large monitor will also allow for more space for important things like a desk lamp and pens.
3. Sitting
What you sit on is crucial to not only your success, but also your lifestyle. If you work at a desk all day staring at a computer screen for eight hours, consider a ball chair. This will keep you moving and active and correct your posture all helping you to focus. A sturdy ergonomic office chair is also a good option as it is long-lasting and allows for good posture.
4. Light
Who doesn’t like natural light? For some, sitting inside a cubicle all day may work, but for the majority of people, light is needed to stay on task and motivated. Situate your desk in front of a window to allow yourself occasional mind-breaks throughout the day. If you are in a dark office, make sure you have desk lamps, floor lamps, and overhead light… as much as you can get!
5. Inspire
If you are in an office full of people it is much easier to get inspired by co-workers and their ideas, however if you are alone in a room, consider putting inspiration nearby. It could be a wall hanging with an inspirational quote or a bulletin board to pin inspiring photos. This will keep you going when you hit a lull in the year!
