Lindsey Vonn's PyeongChang Experience

“There is no word quit. Failure is not in my dictionary.”  There are so many reasons we love our hometown hero, Lindsey Vonn, but this may be the main reason. One of our own is taking home a medal from PyeongChang and is hopefully taking home another tonight. Lindsey Vonn became the oldest woman to win an Olympic alpine medal getting the bronze in downhill skiing which will likely be her last Olympic go at this event.

The women of Team USA have won THREE MEDALS already today (shout out to Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall who won GOLD in the women's team sprint freestyle ending a 42-year-old Olympic cross-country skiing medal drought, Elana Meyers Taylor and Lauren Gibbs who won silver in women’s bobsled and Mia Manganello, Heather Bergsma, Carlijn Schoutens and Brittany Bowe in the women's team pursuit final speedskating race). We are all rooting for Lindsey to bring home another medal tonight.

Vonn, her parents and four siblings moved to Vail, Colorado so she could pursue her career of downhill skiing.  In an article written by Sports Illustrated, Lindsey mentioned how Vail is a very tight community.  Her father, Alan, told Sports Illustrated, “Living in Vail is not a sacrifice… Vail is where the world comes to enjoy a good time… Her brothers and sisters were all members of Ski Club Vail, one of the finest in the country.” We are all thankful to have had such a dedicated individual pursue her dreams in our amazing town.
